All under one roof. HYPE Hoops develops players of all levels — from beginners finding their footing to competitive athletes chasing their next level.
I've had a love for the game, but HYPE has given me a passion to keep playing for every second of every quarter.

HYPE Hoops is a grassroots basketball club based in Red Deer, Alberta. We believe every young athlete deserves access to quality coaching, competitive opportunities, and a team that has their back.
Our community-based model means opportunities are open to everyone — not just past players or the wealthiest. We grow together.
“There is no doubt that HYPE Hoops has already left an incredible mark on women's and youth basketball in Central Alberta.”
— HYPE Hoops Parent
Whether you're picking up a basketball for the first time or competing on a travel team, HYPE Hoops has a path for you. All programs are open to the community — you don't need prior experience with us to join.
HYPE Hoops Legends compete at the regional level against clubs all over Alberta. Running April through June, our travel program is built for female athletes who are serious about their game and ready to be pushed further than a school team ever could.
15U–18U Girls →Every year HYPE Hoops takes players on elite summer trips to team camps and national tournaments. Past opportunities have included Gonzaga Women's Team Camp, NBC Team Camps, and Basketball Nationals — experiences that go far beyond what any local season can offer.
15U–18U Girls →Where it all starts. Our grassroots program introduces young players to the fundamentals of basketball in a fun, encouraging environment. Every kid gets court time, real coaching, and the confidence that comes from being part of a team.
5U–11U Coed • 13U Girls →A pipeline for experienced players to transition into coaching at our younger levels — developing the next generation of coaches, especially within women's sport.

“It's coaches like this that inspire and encourage so many young women to continue to excel in basketball.”
— Keegan R., HYPE Hoops Alum

Reid grew up in Red Deer with basketball in his blood. After completing a dual degree in Education and Kinesiology, he returned home and identified a gap — Red Deer needed more competitive development opportunities for female players in the fall and spring seasons. HYPE Hoops was his answer.
Today, Reid oversees all aspects of the club — coaching development, player development, financials, and program planning — while continuing to coach in both HYPE Hoops and the local high school and junior high systems, with 20+ seasons of combined experience.
